Woodpigeon - Home As A Romanticized Concept Where Everyone Loves You Always and Forever

Anika Mottershaw has a great cartoon autobiography book out (yes it makes sense) of which more later. It comes with a lovely mix CD, some of which were already very firm favourites of mine. However, Woodpigeon had escaped me until now, and this is just a very brilliant track indeed.

Emmy The Great and Elizabeth Sankey get all literary in Islington

Emmy The Great and Elizabeth Sankey get all literary in Islington - Featuring Elizabeth Sankey (Summer Camp), Miriam Elia, Joe Dunthorne, Nikesh Shukla
(First published at God Is In The TV)

Midweek, my friend phoned and all I heard was “Emmy The Great…Elizabeth Sankey…Islington…see you there..” Intrigued I met up with him and joined a small queue of apparent Islington-ites outside The Nave, an ex-church which also does duty as a private school. They probably weren’t Islington-ites at all, simply that when I got there, I discovered what I should have known all along that this was ‘literary festival’ as much as it was ‘gig’.

Laura Cantrell - Manchester

I was exceptionally pleased to get to see Laura Cantrell in Manchester on Sunday night

Here's the gig review at THE MUSIC FIX

The photos came out nice despite some really dodgy red light in the mix - thank heavens for Lightroom (again)

Flock Of Dimes - Prison Bride

At the risk of making this a total love in for Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner, knock me over with a kipper if she doesn't come up with a side project right alongside the new Wye Oak album and US tour. Andy said Jenn was on a major creative streak, I guess he was right. This is mesmerising.

Austra video - Beat And The Pulse

As an antidote to the awful Miley Cyrus video, here is something worthy of your time. She seems to have impressed everyone who saw her at SXSW or indeed anywhere else
